14.05.2009 - Estonian Post and UNICEF plant forest.

Tomorrow, on the 15th of May UNICEF employees and volunteers will join postal workers for planting trees in the forest near the Metsanurga village.

Already in the tenth consecutive year, the employees of Estonian Post have a tradition to plant trees in spring. Tomorrow, UNICEF - led by a representative of Estonia Toomas Palu, will join the event.

"In previous years, we planted pine and fir-trees in the forest near Keila, this year we go to Metsanurga village in Kernu forest district. During ten years, a whole little forest has been planted by the postal workers. Each year, we plant around 1000 trees, "commented Ahti Kallaste, Chairman of the Board of Estonian Post.

According to Ahti Kallaste it is a nice change to everyday work, and he is pleased that this year the contribution to this good cause will be higher due to UNICEF’s team joining in.

Estonian Post sends about 50 million letters and 30 000 kilometres are covered by our postal cars and trucks every day, so the awareness of environmental problems is very important for the company and it makes every effort to find ways to preserve and restore the natural environment.
